Your purchase today is helping entire families in rural areas of South America. New jobs are creating a more sustainable economy. In the region surrounding Ayocucho, Peru, a magnificent visual culture has risen beyond expectations of the indigenous population. Craftsmanship has created opportunity for Artisans to collaborate with partners in the US to sell their beautiful wares and build a marketplace that will allow them to rise above poverty.

By purchasing FAIR TRADE Clutches you are helping to reverse the cycle of poverty and to improve the world you live in. And the best part is that neither High5Humans nor our Artisans Communities are asking for a penny of your charity. High5Humans and YOU are making this a better world.
Thank you so much for being a NICE HUMAN!

An Artists story & dream...Jenny Krauss’s story is a classic: she visited Peru in 2008, met a highly skilled group of women artisans, fell in love with the Peruvian embroidery techniques, bought a few belts to bring back to the states… and the rest is history. Today, Jenny employs 1600 artisans who create these beautifully embroidered clutches. Not only have these Peruvian women’s stunning work influenced Jenny and her business greatly, Jenny has been an equally positive force in the artisans’ lives. Living in such remote areas as the Peruvian Andes, the women have few other opportunities for work, so Jenny’s project has become critical to earning a sustainable income and supporting their families. Jenny Krauss operates using fair trade guidelines, meaning that artisans “earn a living wage, have a safe working environment, and are not subject to workplace pollutants or toxins.” When you support small business, you support a dream!

Designed in the USA, Handmade in Peru
Jenny Krauss, the NY Designer, believes by focusing on a few small regions in South America she can keep her Artisan Partners working throughout the year. This will maximize their earnings and provide the greatest impact on their families & communities. The Artisans in Peru are treated as true business owners and are provided guidance along the way to grow their business. They are paid wages that they set for themselves, they are provided payment in advance of production to allow them to source the best local fibers and materials required to delver the high standard of quality that they have become known for. This allows them to pay their workers in a timely manner without seeking outside financial assistance. It’s the Principles of Fair Trade, and we are proud to be working with Jenny & her Artisan team from Peru.

Happily, more and more consumers are asking for fair trade products and looking to make socially conscious purchases. This is just another way for you to be a nice human!

Fair Trade is not charity. It is a trade-based movement that focuses on creating long-term relationships based on transparency, trust and respect. High5Humans is committed to working with partners that provide fair wages and work with organizations that provide safe and healthy working conditions, job training, time off for education, loans and financial advising, opportunities for health care and most importantly a positive and uplifting working environment.
