Thank you so much for being a NICE HUMAN!
High5Humans loves to support Fair Trade & eco-friendly fashion accessory developers. We believe strongly in supporting artisans in developing countries and the preservation of traditional craftsmanship. Our Jewelry is handmade in small production and is Direct Trade form our US partners that follow Fair Trade values.
Lauren and Andrew, from Chicago, are our US partners. They spend a good portion of every year in India, Nepal, Thailand, & Bali working directly with their artisans & collaborating to create a truly unique and always evolving collection. Their jewelry is an adventurous mix of innovation & traditional ethnic craftsmanship. The result is a truly cross cultural, one of a kind collection!
Because of Fair Trade artisans & partners, High5Humans offers "Purchases with a Purpose" that sustains livelihoods and futures for artisans that have been handcrafting traditional art forms for generations. The US Partners have an interesting story that will inspire us all to see more of the world and connect with humans globally.
HERE'S THEIR STORY:
Lauren & Andrew took a leap of faith in 2011 when they decided to leave behind their traditional jobs & travel southeast Asia for 6 months. The gypsy lifestyle, humble & talented people, captivating culture, & stunning craftsmanship with the heritage of the countries they travelled took a hold of them in a powerful way. They knew they would never be the same & they needed to engrain travel & cultural exchange into their lives permanently. Today they are working directly with artisans all over the globe.
HANDMADE IN INDIA
Lauren & Andrew have formed close relationships with the makers, their families & communities - they have become partners and friends. It is very important to them to not only support the artists they work with but to preserve their strong tradition of jewelry making in a world where these traditions are fading away too quickly.
We thank Lauren & Andrew for helping all of us create opportunity with ethical, sustainable designs that are making a difference in the world.
Happily, more and more consumers are asking for fair trade products and looking to make socially conscious purchases.
Fair Trade is not charity. It is a trade-based movement that focuses on creating long-term relationships based on transparency, trust and respect. High5Humans is committed to working with partners that provide fair wages and work with organizations that provide safe and healthy working conditions, job training, time off for education, loans and financial advising, opportunities for health care and most importantly a positive and uplifting working environment.
High5Humans is dedicated to preserving the environment through the use of recycled & up-cycled materials, and avoid waste to water reduction in the production process. There are few, if any, machines used in the process- making a truly handmade imprint. This is just another way to feel good about your purchase and to BE A NICE HUMAN!
CARING FOR YOUR JEWELRY
Natural metals can oxidize over time, turning a darker, more muted color. To maintain a shiny, bright finish for as long as possible, store your jewelry in a sealed plastic bag and keep it dry. Do not wear in the shower or store in a humid environment. Take off jewelry before showering and before applying perfumes, hairsprays, lotions or make-up.
Keep in mind, part of the beauty of this product is the natural tarnish finish.
To return metal to its original shine, make a paste of baking soda, water and lemon juice and gently rub it onto the piece with a soft cloth. Wash the mixture off using running water, then dry and buff with a clean cloth.
