They are hopeful for a future that will keep their family heritage alive by bringing beautiful designs to North America.

High5Humans loves to support Fair Trade & eco-friendly fashion accessory developers. The brands mission is to empower artisans across the world by creating dignified employment opportunities. We believe that these job opportunities lead to sustainable societies and a better world.

Made by Fair Trade Artisans in Guatemala…
Many of the Artisan Communities we work with join together creating bridges of opportunities. Artisans & entrepreneurs in developing countries are given opportunity of empowerment by expanding their potential to reach a larger audience and bring you beautiful products. Each Handbag is hand-woven on a loom that dates back to the true heritage of the Guatemalan Mayan Indian Woman’s roots.

We, at High5Humans, have a love for Guatemala Traditional Heritage. Guatemala is a Central American Country located between the Pacific Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico. It is bordered by Mexico, El Salvador, Honduras, and Belize. Guatemala is home to numerous volcanoes, unpredictable earthquakes, and a severe hurricane season. It’s rough landscape may be erratic but strong cultural traditions make it the most populated country in Central America, almost 14 million people call it their home. High5Humans Partners work with the very talented Artisans of Guatemala to share their deep heritage of cultural crafts and provide them with a connection to markets in North American to allow them to grow and prosper.

The Mayan Women can spend anywhere from a day weaving to a week to complete the meticulous detail that goes into each individual handbag. The Artisans earn Fair Wages, are treated with respect and work in a safe & clean environment… all-critical and never to be taken for granted in Guatemala.

Happily, more and more consumers are asking for fair trade products and looking to make socially conscious purchases. This is just another way for you to be a nice human!

Fair Trade is not charity. It is a trade-based movement that focuses on creating long-term relationships based on transparency, trust and respect. High5Humans is committed to working with partners that provide fair wages and work with organizations that provide safe and healthy working conditions, job training, time off for education, loans and financial advising, opportunities for health care and most importantly a positive and uplifting working environment.

Lightly spray the leather or suede piece with a stain and water resistant spray, such as Scotch Guard. As with any fabric, test a small, unseen patch first.
To spot clean unfinished leather, use a damp cloth or sponge to rub saddle soap into the leather and work soap into a light lather. Wipe away lather and allow to air dry. Then, oil leather with a leather preservative such as mink oil.
Store suede items so that they can breathe. Avoid plastic bags, which prevent air circulation, and opt for a pillowcase instead to protect from dust. Keep suede away from light, which will fade the color, and damp conditions, which can encourage growth of damaging mold and mildew. If suede gets wet, soak up excess moisture with a clean towel and allow the suede to dry naturally; do not use a heat source to speed up the process. After the item dries, restore the nap (the raised fibers typical of suede) with a suede brush.
Keep in mind that major stains will probably require professional care. Take your item to someone who specializes in leather and suede.
