In the most basic of terms- Fair Trade is an equitable, long-term relationship between trading partners, developing ways to ensure low-income artisans are truly being empowered to build their own sustainable income to rise above poverty.

"FASHION is our tool to create positive change in the world.
We are a Global Design Community…Together we are better.
As Global Citizens we support Fair Trade Principles.
Through Design & Innovation, we provide advancement opportunities to Artisans Globally."

The question is often asked “how much money goes to the artisans?”  This is a question that assumes we are a charitable model that gives either money or items away, like clothes or shoes.  This is actually a stigma of social companies that we want to break. We believe that serious, long-term solutions to poverty lie in creating jobs, not in giving more away. We Trade with Companies, Villages, & Coops and our role is to support our partners that provide the artisan communities with fair employment practices & opportunity for growth, as we help to bridge the gap of sales to the USA by presenting the artisans stories & beautiful accessories to our consumers.

HIGH 5 HUMANS is an online boutique with artisan made & ethically sourced accessories for the modern woman. Each item is handmade with love from Fair Trade artisan groups both near and far. Your purchases help support skilled artisans and drive development & growth in their communities.

Empowering women to feel confident, beautiful and be able to achieve stability is our ultimate goal. Our partnership with these Artisan Groups allows us the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of these women, while also giving them a chance to be a part of creating something for themselves while taking care of their families. Many of these artisans are stay-at-home moms and are also dedicated to their work, which is an unusual arrangement in many countries and not encouraged for women to work. We want to help them live empowered lives and be able to live happily and healthy.

“In my experience, poor people are the world’s greatest entrepreneurs. Every day, they must innovate in order to survive. They remain poor because they do not have the opportunities to turn their creativity into sustainable income.”
– Muhammad Yunus, author of Creating a World Without Poverty
